Calcium chloride is chemically the same salt in both grades — the difference is purity level, impurity profile and the regulatory approval that comes with the food-grade product.

Industrial Grade Calcium Chloride (94%)

Industrial-grade granules at ~94% purity are the standard choice for dust suppression on unpaved roads, de-icing, concrete acceleration, oilfield applications, and general industrial drying/desiccant use — anywhere the calcium chloride is not going into food or a food-contact process.

See Calcium Chloride Granules (94% Purity, Industrial Grade).

Food-Grade Calcium Chloride

Food-grade calcium chloride is produced and certified to a purity and impurity-control standard suitable for use in food — it's a common firming agent in canned vegetables and cheese-making, an electrolyte additive, and a coagulant in tofu production. Never substitute an industrial-grade product into a food application, even if the chemical formula looks identical on paper — the impurity controls and documentation are what make it food-safe, not just the CaCl₂ content.

Choosing the Right One

If the end use involves food, beverage, or direct food-contact processing, specify the food-grade product and confirm the certification your process needs (we can share documentation on request). For de-icing, dust control, drying, concrete work, or other non-food industrial use, the standard industrial-grade granules are the right — and more economical — choice.
