Anionic Polyelectrolyte Supplier — SunFloc Anionic
SunFloc Anionic is our own Sun Brand anionic polyelectrolyte (anionic polyacrylamide), manufactured by Suraj Chemicals in two grades — HQ and MQ — with a downloadable specification sheet and MSDS for each. Supplied from Chennai with pan-India dispatch.
What is a anionic polyelectrolyte?
An anionic polyelectrolyte is a water-soluble polymer that carries a negative charge along its chain. SunFloc Anionic is an anionic polyacrylamide (CAS 9003-05-8) supplied as a white granular solid.
Anionic polyelectrolytes work best on inorganic and positively charged solids — mineral particles, clay and silt, and the metal-hydroxide flocs formed after a coagulant such as poly aluminium chloride (PAC) or alum has been dosed. The long, very high molecular weight chains bridge these small flocs into large, fast-settling ones.

Where anionic polyelectrolyte is used
Water clarification
Flocculant after a coagulant such as SunPac PAC or alum, in municipal and industrial water treatment.
Mineral processing
Flocculation of mineral solids and tailings, as listed on the SunFloc product sheets.
Effluent treatment
Settling of inorganic and metal-hydroxide solids in industrial effluent treatment.
Paper & textile
Paper and textile industry applications, as listed on the SunFloc product sheets.
Choosing and dosing
The right polymer and dose depend on your water or sludge. Run a jar test with the SunFloc Anionic grade before plant use — we can help you plan it.

Frequently asked questions
What is a anionic polyelectrolyte used for?
A anionic polyelectrolyte is a flocculant: it gathers fine suspended particles into larger flocs so they settle, float or dewater. It suits inorganic and positively charged solids, and flocs formed after PAC or alum.
What is the difference between cationic and anionic polyelectrolyte?
Cationic polyelectrolytes carry a positive charge and are generally chosen for negatively charged, organic solids; anionic polyelectrolytes carry a negative charge and are generally chosen for inorganic solids and coagulated metal-hydroxide flocs. A jar test on your own water or sludge is the reliable way to choose.
Which SunFloc Anionic grade should I choose, HQ or MQ?
Both are anionic polyacrylamide in granular form. The HQ grade comes with an extended specification (molecular weight, charge density, viscosity, residual acrylamide and dissolution data); the MQ grade is specified on core parameters. Share your application and we will suggest a grade for a jar test.
How do I prepare a polyelectrolyte solution?
Disperse the granules slowly into the vortex of gently stirred water to avoid lumps, then keep stirring until fully dissolved. For SunFloc Anionic HQ the specification sheet gives a recommended working concentration of 3 g/L, a dissolution time of about 90 minutes at 5 g/L, and a solution stability of 1 day. Dilute further for dosing as your plant requires.
Who manufactures SunFloc Anionic?
SunFloc Anionic is manufactured by Suraj Chemicals, Chennai, and sold under our own trademarked Sun Brand.
