Anti-Redeposition & Anti-Encrustation Polymer for Detergents — SunRedep
SunRedep is our own Sun Brand anionic polymer for anti-soil redeposition and anti-encrustation, manufactured by Suraj Chemicals in two liquid grades — SC03 and SC10 — with a spec sheet and MSDS for each.
What does an anti-redeposition polymer do?
In the wash, dirt lifted off the fabric can settle back onto it. Over repeated washes this soil redeposition makes whites look grey and colours dull. An anionic polymer adsorbs on the loosened soil particles and keeps them dispersed in the wash liquor, so they are rinsed away instead of returning to the fabric.
In hard water, calcium and magnesium can form insoluble deposits on fabric and machine parts — encrustation. Anionic polymers help hold these hardness salts in a dispersed state and interfere with crystal growth, reducing build-up.

Anti-redeposition and anti-encrustation duty in laundry detergent formulations.
Cleaning formulations
Dispersant duty in household, institutional and industrial cleaning products.
Water treatment
Dispersant duty in water-treatment formulations, as listed on the SunRedep sheets.
Formulation development
A choice of acidic (SC03) and near-neutral (SC10) grades to suit your formulation.
Choosing a grade
Grade choice and dosage depend on your formulation and process. Ask us for samples and the specification sheets to trial both grades.

Frequently asked questions
What is an anti-soil redeposition polymer?
It is a polymer added to detergents to keep soil removed during washing suspended in the wash water, so the soil is rinsed away rather than settling back on the fabric.
What is anti-encrustation?
Encrustation is the build-up of insoluble hardness-salt deposits on fabric and machine parts in hard water. An anti-encrustation polymer helps keep these salts dispersed and reduces the build-up.
What is the difference between SunRedep SC03 and SC10?
SC03 has 47.0 – 53.0% non-volatile solids and an acidic pH (2.5 – 4.0); SC10 has 38.0 – 42.0% non-volatile solids, a near-neutral pH (6.0 – 8.0) and a higher viscosity.
How are SunRedep grades packed?
Both grades are supplied in drums. Shelf life is 12 months for SC03 and 6 months for SC10, per the specification sheets.
Who manufactures SunRedep?
SunRedep is manufactured by Suraj Chemicals, Chennai, and sold under our own trademarked Sun Brand.
